Christmas is just days away! Looking to get into the festive mood on Christmas week? Whether you are visiting for the first time or a local, here are seven fun things to do in New York City during Christmas Week.

Visit the Rockefeller Christmas Tree

Rockefeller Christmas Tree

An absolute must during the holiday season is checking out the huge, world famous Rockefeller Christmas Tree. This year the tree is 77 feet tall and has over 50,000 Christmas lights! Plus the plaza and ice rink are also all decorated for the holidays so it is definitely going to put you in a holly jolly mood!

Check Out All the Christmas Decorations and Window Displays

Dyker Heights Christmas Lights

A treasured tradition is the amazing Christmas displays all over New York City. Macy’s (151 W 34th St) is especially renown for their Christmas window displays and we absolutely love Willow, the Golden Retriever dreaming of all the awesome presents he’ll get! Saks Fifth Avenue (611 5th Ave) has a Frozen 2 theme this year. If you are looking for over the top, festive Christmas decorations, you have to check out Dyker Heights. It has been described as the most festive neighborhood in New York City.

Go on a Food Tour with Ahoy New York

Nom Wah Dim Sum Tasting

Give the gift of foodie fun this holiday season. Ahoy New York food tours of Chinatown and Little Italy are great for the whole family. Learn about the fascinating history of these two neighborhoods and taste some delicious dumplings, cheese, cannoli and more! Also check out our Taste of Mulberry Street tour.
Christmas Spectacular

The Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes in Radio City Music Hall (1260 6th Ave) and New York City Ballet’s Nutcracker at Lincoln Center are two iconic Christmas shows in New York City. Both are so much fun and you definitely want to get tickets sooner than later.

Go to the New York Botanical Garden’s Holiday Train Show

New York Botanical Garden's Holiday Train Show

One of our annual holiday traditions is visiting the New York Botanical Garden (2900 Southern Blvd) for their Holiday Train Show. It is their 28th year and there is so much to see. The whole train set is just a work of art. We just love the amazing recreations of New York landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and Yankee Stadium. This is a fun thing to do during Christmas Week if you want to stay indoors.

Shop at the Holiday Markets

Bryant Park's Winter Village

Doing some last minute holiday shopping? The holiday markets are a ton of fun and there is definitely a little something for everyone (there are even a lot of options for pets). Our favorite holiday markets are in Union Square, Bryant Park and Columbus Circle.

Eat and Drink at Christmas Themed Bars and Restaurants

Finally, there are a lot of Christmas themed bars and restaurants throughout NYC. Two bars/ restaurants renowned for their Christmas decorations are Rolf’s Bar & Restaurant (281 3rd Ave) and Tavern on the Green (Central Park, W 67th St). You can also check out pop up Christmas bars with fun names like Miracle On 9th Street (649 E 9th St) and Santa’s Basement Workshop (93 Bowery).
