Pizza with Rachael Ray…
After two great tours back to back in the East Village, I decided to treat myself to a great meal! My sister and I went to have pizza at Motorino in the East Village (East 12th and First Avenue). We had heard a lot of good things about their true Neapolitan pizza (pizza napoletana) and even saw on the Food Network show “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” that Rachel Ray adores their anchovy pizza.
So as we arrive and are seated… we see that Rachael Ray IS THERE TOO!! It was very exciting to see her enjoy a cuisine that I adore as well! As I did not want to be a total foodie “geek” I only glanced at her table a couple of times. However, she was true to her words… she ordered the anchovy pizza!
I myself had a classic margarita pizza and boy oh boy was it very Neapolitan! This pizza reminded me of the pizza I have tasted in Italy. It was made in a wood oven and it had very fresh bufala mozzarella, basil and tomatoes. YUM-O 🙂
OH and before I forget to tell you… I ordered a great glass of their recommended “pizza” wine, Gragnano, Cantine Federiciane. It is a semi-sparkling, ruby red, perfumed, light bodied Pizza wine from Naples, Italy. This wine was very sweet and sparkly…just what I love!
I highly recommend Motorino… and who knows maybe you’ll be lucky enough to “dine” with Rachael too 🙂
