The Best of New York City: The Best Pizza, Burgers, Fried Chicken and More!

Keste Margarita Pizza

Looking for where you can find the best pizza, burgers, fried chicken and more in New York City?

If you are a foodie, New York City is the place to be! Whether you are looking for a light snack or hearty meal, there are countless tempting options across the city, and we are here to help you narrow it down. Here are some of the most popular dishes in New York City and where to get them.

The Best Pizza: Keste

Keste Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza

First off, New York City is renowned for its amazing pizzerias, but you can find our favorite pizza at Keste (77 Fulton St) in Lower Manhattan. Their light and fluffy crust is what sets them apart from all the others. We especially recommend their signature pie, the Keste. This pizza has top notch tomato sauce, both buffalo mozzarella and pecorino cheese, thin slices of prosciutto, some arugula, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. What more can you ask for?

The Best Bagel: Best Bagel & Coffee

New York City is also renowned for its bagels and our favorite bagel is from Best Bagel & Coffee (225 W 35th St). Their bagels are massive and have just the right amount of chewiness. You can get them toasted with some butter, cream cheese, lox or even the classic combination of bacon, egg, and cheese. But honestly, their bagels are so good that we just love to munch on them plain too. We find this is a great snack on the go.

The Best Burger: Burger By Day

Burger By Day Bacon Cheeseburger and Onion Rings

Burger By Day (242 Grand St) has perfected the smash burger. All their beef patties are packed with flavor and pressed so it has a bit of crispiness. These patties are then topped with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, and some of their special sauce, all on a toasted bun. Add some fries or onion rings, fresh out of the fryer and you have a yummy lunch that won’t break the bank.

The Best Fried Chicken: Bubby’s

Bubbys Fried Chicken and Pancakes

Bubby’s (120 Hudson St) is our go-to brunch spot, and we always order their fried chicken and pancakes. To this day, we are still surprised about how juicy their fried chicken is and how tasty and crispy the coating is. This is a dish that always puts a smile on our face, and it is exactly want you want from a reliable, go-to comfort food.

The Best Sandwich: Banh Mi Co Ut

Katz’s pastrami sandwiches are probably the most iconic New York City sandwich, but it is something we can’t eat every week even though it is so delicious. But one sandwich we can get time and time again is the Vietnamese sandwich from Banh Mi Co Ut (83 Elizabeth St). Our favorite sandwich here is stuffed with fatty ham, pork belly, pate, cucumbers, and pickled carrots. Every bite is an explosion of flavor.

The Best Dumplings: Nom Wah Tea Parlor

Nom Wah Pan Fried Dumplings

Our favorite dumplings come from the oldest dim sum restaurant in NYC, Nom Wah Tea Parlor (13 Doyers St & Other Locations). Some of our go-to dumplings are their pan-fried pork and shrimp dumplings and their pan-fried chicken and cabbage dumplings. Best of all, they recently opened a new location at Market 57. Market 57 is a must-see foodie destination that highlights minority and women-owned businesses, curated by the James Beard Foundation. The best way to explore this food hall is our Market 57 Chelsea Food Tour!

The Best Dessert: Eileen’s Special Cheesecake

Eileen’s Special Cheesecake

Finally, we are always on the lookout for the perfect NYC dessert. One dessert that we are still are obsessed about all these years is the scrumptious cheesecake from Eileen’s Special Cheesecake (17 Cleveland Pl). It has a crumbly graham cracker crust and a smooth and creamy cheese filling. Add some fruits like strawberries for some sweetness and it is pure bliss with every bite.
