The Best Cheesecakes in New York City
Cheesecake is a NYC food that is almost as iconic as hot dogs and pizza. It just so happens that we love, love cheesecake. If you are a fan of cheesecake too, there are a lot of options! So from old school bakeries to new contenders, here are the best cheesecakes in New York City.
Junior’s Restaurant – 386 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn
We have to start the list with the world famous Junior’s New York style cheesecake. What can we say? They are just perfect. They are creamy and smooth and the cakes have just the right amount of sweetness. Of course we can’t leave out the last piece to this yummy puzzle, the graham cracker crust!
Veniero’s Pastry Shop – 342 E 11th St
Italian style cheesecake tends to be made with ricotta cheese and it is usually a bit less dense than the New York style cheesecake. Our pick for Italian style cheesecake is Veniero’s Pastry Shop. It is an old school bakery so you know the serving sizes are huge and every pastry is a great value.
Ferrara Bakery & Cafe – 195 Grand St
Ferrara Bakery in Little Italy is known for their cannoli however they also have an excellent Italian cheesecake. It is one of the draws that have us coming back for more.
S&S Cheesecake – 222 West 238th St, Bronx
S&S Cheesecake is sometimes overlooked as one of the best cheesecake spots in New York City since it is off the beaten path but trust us it is worth the trip. It is a no frills bakery but their cheesecake is so good that you don’t really need any toppings like strawberries or pineapple (but it is an option).
Lady M Cake Boutique – 41 E 78th St & Other Locations
Lady M Cake Boutique’s cheesecake (Gateau Fromage) is also up there among the best cheesecake in the city. Even though it is pricier than others on the list, it is well worth the visit.
Carnegie Deli – 854 7th Ave
Carnegie Deli is an old school New York style deli and they just so happen to have a top notch cheesecake so save some room for dessert!
Eileen’s Special Cheesecake – 17 Cleveland Pl
Finally no list of the best cheesecakes can be complete without Eileen’s Special Cheesecake. Their cheesecakes are lighter than most on this list and they are pure bliss with every bite. We have tried every flavor many times over (for the record, the classic strawberry and the cookies-n-cream cheesecake are our favorites). In fact, every year our Thanksgiving dinner always end with a slice of Eileen’s cheesecake!
