Did you know in 1624 the Dutch West India Company brought 30 families to establish a trading post on Governor’s Island which means New York City will be celebrating its 400th anniversary this year. The Holland Society of New York, the Saint Nicholas Society of the City of New York and the Society of First Families of New York have joined together to document and celebrate this huge milestone.

Branching out to a bit outside of New York City, 2024 is also the 100th anniversary of the founding of the New York state parks and historic sites system. There are 180 NY state parks from Long Island to Niagara Falls and this includes beaches, hiking trails, camp sites and more.
