New York City Business Spotlight: Tasty Dumpling

Posted on January 10, 2014 |

It only takes a quick walk around Chinatown to see that there are a number of good dumplings shops. They are great places for quick, scrumptious lunches. One of the downsides of your typical Chinatown dumpling shop is that many are very tiny and have a “hole in the wall” atmosphere, which can be a bit unconformable if they are crowded. This being said, our New York City business spotlight for this month is Tasty Dumpling (42 Mulberry St), the best dumplings shop in Chinatown. Tasty Dumpling recently moved to a much larger location so unlike many of the nearby dumpling shops it is fairly spacious so you won’t feel so awkward waiting for your dumplings. Their location is also close to the heart of Chinatown, City Hall and the Canal Street subway station so it is quite convenient.

Of course the main attraction is their food. It is not unusual to see a mixture of locals, students, travelers, businessmen and businesswomen all looking for dumplings. The most popular dish at Tasty Dumpling has to be their fried pork and chives dumplings. They are SOOO juicy and as the name implies quite tasty. Best of all, they only cost $1.25 for 5 dumplings and you usually can get you order right away. It is Chinese comfort food at its best. We love to get them as a snack after a long day of work. If you have five minutes or or so, you may want to place an order for boiled chicken and mushroom dumplings as they are equally delish. All dumplings are great with a little bit of their black vinegar and soy sauce combination AND a tiny bit of their hot sauce. Finally for only $2, they also make the best sesame pancake sandwich with beef, a great quick lunch on the go.

All in all, it is the little things that add up to make Tasty Dumpling our choice for the best dumplings shop in Chinatown!
