The Best Restaurants in New York City for Takeout

It is no secret that New York City is always bustling and can be fast moving. Sometimes you are in a hurry and need to take your lunch or dinner to go. To help, here are the best restaurants in New York City for takeout.

Cutting Board – 53 Bayard St
If you are in Chinatown or Little Italy, our favorite takeout spot is the Cutting Board. They like to fuse American classic comfort foods with Chinese and Japanese influences. For example, we love their chicken teriyaki burger. Cutting Board is usually quick so you can be in and out in less than 10 minutes and it will cost you less than $10.

Yonah Schimmel’s Knish Bakery – 137 E Houston St
Yonah Schimmel’s Knish Bakery is an old school place that specializes in you guessed it knishes. Their knishes are absolute giants, very tasty and very easy to reheat. We like to buy half of a dozen at a time and have a delicious lunch, its perfect on the go to and perfect to share.

Tuck Shop – 68 E 1st St & 75 9th Ave
Tuck Shop’s Australian meat pies are just packed with flavor in every bite and they are very convenient. All of their pies are very good but we just love their Guiness steak and mushroom pie. In addition to their original location at 1st St and 1st Ave, they also have a location in the Chelsea Market.

Lobster Place – 75 9th Ave
Speaking of which, if you are near the High Line and looking for fresh, tasty seafood, you can’t beat the Lobster Place also in the Chelsea Market. They have a ton of options including New England Clam Chowder, shrimp cocktail and lobster rolls.

S’MAC – 345 E 12th St
S’MAC is one of our favorite spots for macaroni & cheese and they have a separate storefront two doors down for takeout and deliveries. Like many restaurants on this list, the food is packaged so it is easy to carry and easy to reheat. There are a number of different ways you can customize your macaroni & cheese. Our favorite is the Alpine which has bacon!

Dirty Bird To Go – 155 Chambers St & 204 W 14th St
Dirty Bird’s buttermilk dipped fried chicken is just amazing. To complement it, Dirty Bird has an extensive menu of southern sides like cole slaw, mac-n-cheese, garlic kale and of course cornbread.
