Planning a trip or staycation in New York City this summer?

For many, Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer. So, it is the perfect time to start planning your summer to do list and we are here to help you make the most of your time. Whether you just want to soak in some sun, go to an outdoor concert or perhaps do some al fresco dining, here are seven fun things to do in New York City this summer.

New York City probably has a million reasons to be outdoors this summer. There are so many outdoor concerts, movie screenings or plays happening almost every day. Some events to keep an eye out for include the Seaport Cinema on the rooftop of Pier 17, the Bryant Park Film Festival, the Big Screen at Hudson Yards to watch sporting events, the Summer Stage Festival and Shakespeare in the Park.

Take Advantage of NYC Beaches and Parks

New York City is also home to world class beaches and parks. They are now all open and have a calendar packed with special events. You can cool off in the waters by Coney Island, plan a relaxing picnic with friends and family in the iconic Central Park or play board games in Bryant Park. Honestly, you can easily visit a new beach or park every weekend this summer!

Get Dinner or a Snack at the NYC Night Markets

One foodie trend that we love that is becoming more and more popular are night markets! The Queens Night Market is probably the most popular market but there are also the Bronx Night Market, Brooklyn Night Market, Uptown Night Market, Vegan Night Market and Chinatown Night Market. With everything from savory snacks to scrumptious sweets, you can check out exciting new dishes when the sun goes down and when it is a bit cooler.

We are always on the lookout for fun, free things to do in New York City during weekends when the weather is hot and one of our favorite summer activities is kayaking on the Hudson River or East River, offered by the NYC Parks. This is a great way to get unique views of the New York City landmarks and skyline.

Finally, NYC Restaurant Week is the biggest foodie event in New York City with over 500 restaurants participating. From late July to early August, you can find great deals and pre fixe menus from some of the most popular restaurants in NYC so this is the perfect opportunity to try something new. A few things we are eyeing this year is a juicy steak and some fresh seafood!
