Join us in the Ahoy NY kitchen for our monthly virtual cooking experience, where we’ll go on a culinary adventure! Each month, we’ll learn about a new destination through its culinary history and recipes, without having to get on a plane. We’ll provide the ingredients and equipment list upon booking, so you can get ready for the class. Participants provide their own ingredients and equipment. A Zoom link, along with any additional information, will be provided on the morning of the cooking experience.
Sunday, October 17th Class:
This month, join us on our virtual trip to Calabria! This class will be all about the desserts and perfect for those of you with a sweet tooth! We’ll be making 2 traditional Calabrian desserts: The first is called Melanzane al cioccolato- eggplant layered and filled with ricotta and chocolate. Yes, eggplant and chocolate! The second dessert we’ll be making is Susumelle- cinnamon chocolate cookies or biscuits dipped in chocolate, traditionally seen during the Christmas season (yet now, popular year round). As always, we love to use traditional recipes not often found outside of the regions they come from and adapted.
Classes are open to all experience levels, as we will do every step together! Participants will first be walked through the steps in the recipes, then the host will answer any questions you may have before we get cooking! Each class will have two to three recipes we’ll work on for a fun, yet challenging culinary experience. By the end of the 1.5-2 hour class, you’ll have mastered traditional recipes that will impress your family and friends! So, no matter if you’ve never boiled water before or if you’re in charge of making a feast for the holidays, this class has something for everyone!
Classes are offered on the 3rd weekend of every month, with each month virtually visiting a different location.
