Posted on February 12, 2016 |

Dumplings can be prepared in a number of different ways. They can be fried like potstickers, be served in soup like wontons or steamed like Shanghai soup dumplings. If you love dumplings, then Chinatown should definitely be on your radar. So here are the best dumplings in Chinatown, New York City. They all make for a tasty snack or yummy lunch!

Tasty Dumpling – 42 Mulberry St
First and foremost when it comes to the best dumpling shops in Chinatown, we have to start with Tasty Dumpling. We highly recommend their pork & chives fried dumplings and their mushroom & chicken boiled dumplings. They are both full of flavor and they will definitely hit the spot.

Shanghai Asian Cuisine – 14 Elizabeth St
Shanghai soup dumplings aka xiaolongbao are wildly addictive and delicious. They have exploded in popularity lately so there are a ton of restaurants in Chinatown that specialize in them but definitely try the xiaolongbao with crab meat from Shanghai Asian Cuisine! Their soup and their chewy dough makes their xiaolongbao stand out from the rest.

Shanghai Cafe Deluxe – 100 Mott St
Looking for good options for vegetarians? Try the vegetable steamed dumplings from Shanghai Cafe Deluxe. It is top notch and it is the perfect way start to a meal.

Xi’an Famous Foods – 67 Bayard St & Other Locations
Xi’an Famous Foods is known for their handmade noodles so their scrumptious spicy & sour lamb dumplings are sometimes overlooked. These dumplings are unlike anything we ever had so we are always coming back there for more.

Nom Wah Tea Parlor – 13 Doyers St
Similarly, a dumpling that is hard to find elsewhere is Nom Wah’s shrimp & snow pea leaf dumplings. We often find ourselves getting three or more orders of these dumplings because there is never enough to go around!

H K Wonton Garden – 79 Mulberry St
If you are visiting Chinatown, then wontons are a must. After trying wontons from restaurants across Chinatown, the wontons from HK Wonton Garden are still the best. Wontons are served in a broth so it is the perfect snack when it is cold outside.

Golden Unicorn – 18 E Broadway
Finally shrimp dumplings or har gow are absolute musts for dim sum and Golden Unicorn has an excellent har gow. In fact as soon as we are seated, we always order the har gow right away. They are not to be missed!
