The Best Ice Cream Spots in New York City

Although it may not seem like it at times in New York City, spring is here and summer is right around the corner. When we think of summer, we think of ice cream, the ultimate summer treat! So we are very excited to present the best ice cream spots in New York City.

Chinatown Ice Cream Factory – 65 Bayard St
Chinatown Ice Cream Factory has been a mainstay in the neighborhood for years and they have plenty of unusual flavors that you can try like taro and lychee. Our favorite is their red bean ice cream. Red beans really offer a different type of sweetness which is perfect for desserts. Chinatown Ice Cream Factory can get crowded at times but it is a great start for anyone looking for something a little different.

Sundaes & Cones – 95 E 10th St
Sundaes & Cones in the East Village is also known for their Asian inspired ice cream flavors such as wasabi and black sesame. It is an absolute delight to sample and try all their flavors.

Big Gay Ice Cream – 125 East 7th St & 61 Grove St
Big Gay Ice Cream started as a single ice cream truck and has since expanded to several locations. Like many ice cream shops on the list, they are not afraid to experiment with crazy flavors like CocoCone, which is vanilla ice cream with toasted curried coconut. Yum!

Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain – 513 Henry St, Brooklyn
Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain is best known for their towering sundaes. You can’t go wrong with any of them but one of our favorites is the Cookie Monster. It is mint chocolate chip ice cream with hot fudge, chocolate chip cookie crumbles, whipped cream and of course blue sprinkles. Trust us, it is really quite the sight to behold and it definitely tastes as good as it looks!

Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory – 1 Water St, Brooklyn
Over across the Brooklyn Bridge is the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and their ice cream is well worth the trip. It is housed in an old converted fireboat house along the waterfront. We regularly make it the final destination on treks over the Brooklyn Bridge because their ice cream is top notch. Plus the views of the city right outside the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory are breathtaking and a perfect place to enjoy your ice cream.

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream – 48 E 7th St & Other Locations
Last but certainly not least, there is Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream. Their vanilla ice cream in particular is pure bliss. You can taste the quality as their ice cream melts in your mouth and explodes with flavor. It just hits the spot and we just can’t get enough!
