The Seven Best Comfort Foods in New York City

Parm Chicken Parm Pasta

There are just some foods that always make you happy. They can remind you of home, are often very simple but, they are always very delicious! So with everything from pasta to fried chicken, here are our picks for the seven best comfort foods in New York City.

Parm – 250 Vesey St & Other Locations

Parm Chicken Parm Sandwich

First off, one of our favorite comfort foods is chicken parmigiana. It just so happens that there are a bunch of good places in New York City for chicken parm but one that we go to regularly is simply called Parm. Their chicken parm has the perfect trio of juicy chicken with a nice crust, tasty tomato sauce and lots of ooey, gooey cheese!

Hill Country Chicken – 1123 Broadway

Fried chicken is probably one of the first things you think of when you think about comfort foods and Hill Country Chicken is easily one of favorite fried chicken spots. We love, love, love their chicken and waffles and if by any chance we aren’t stuffed from their fried chicken, we love trying some of their yummy pies too!

Joe’s Pizza – 7 Carmine St & Other Locations

Joe's Pizza

Another easy pick for this list is a New York City classic, Joe’s Pizza! There is just something comforting about having a yummy go to option that you can get quickly and one that hits the spot at any hour of the day.

S’MAC – 197 1st Ave

SMAC Alpine Mac n Cheese

We are absolutely addicted to the mac & cheese from S’MAC. You can choose from a number of interesting flavor combinations and some of favorites include alpine (gruyere & bacon) and la mancha (Manchego, fennel and onions).

Luke’s Lobster – 93 E 7th St

Luke's Lobster Shrimp Roll and Crab Bisque

Something that we are craving especially as it gets cooler is a good chowder. Luke’s Lobster has an excellent New England clam chowder as well as lobster and corn chowder. Both are just full of flavor!

Lunella Ristorante – 173 Mulberry St

When we are looking for a delicious and hearty meal, we like the pasta from Lunella Ristorante in Little Italy. They have a warm, homey feel to their restaurant and to their food. In fact, you can try some of their amazing fresh pasta on our Taste of Mulberry Street food tour and there is even an option to pair it with some wine!

Tuck Shop – 68 E 1st St #1 & Other Locations

Tuck Shop Guiness Beef Stew Pie

Finally Tuck Shop’s Australian meat pies are simply amazing. They are just bursting with flavor yet still great on the go. Our go to pies here include their chicken pot pie, Guinness, steak & mushroom pie and their Thai chicken curry pie. Best of all, if you are looking for something delicious to eat late at night, Tuck Shop is usually open!
