Things to Do in New York City for Summer 2015

July and August are big months for New York City. We have so much to look forward to this summer. There are can’t miss foodie events, free Shakespeare performances, music festivals and more! We have narrowed it down and here is our list of things to do in New York City for summer 2015.

Cheesemonger Invitational NYC – June 27
If you love cheese, you can’t miss the Cheesemonger Invitational NYC (4755 27th St, Long Island City). With the price of admission, you can sample all sorts of interesting cheeses from the best cheesemongers in New York City. You are sure to find the perfect bite of cheese here.

Shakespeare in the Park
Shakespeare in the Park is series of free events spread across the summer months at the The Delacorte Theater in Central Park. It is a great reason to make you way to Central Park, one of our favorite parks in New York City this summer. It is very popular and you will need a ticket so plan ahead. Also if you are looking for Shakespeare with a NYC themed twist, there is also the free shakespeare series at Bryant Park.

Macy’s July 4th Fireworks Show – July 4
Macy’s July 4th Fireworks Show is truly a wonder to behold and it is must see event every year. It is on the East River this year and there are great viewing spots at the Brooklyn Bridge Park and along the waterfront on the east side of Lower Manhattan. Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest is another fun July 4th event.

4Knots Music Festival – July 11
The annual 4Knots Music Festival moves from South Street Seaport’s Pier 17 to Pier 84 in Hudson River Park. It is headlined by Super Furry Animals and Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, two great bands. Celebrate Brooklyn, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Central Park’s SummerStage are all great options too.

Jazz Age Lawn Party – August 15 & 16
The Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governor’s Island is a throwback to the prohibition era. People will be dressed in 1920’s clothing, there will be live Jazz music and performances and there will be a ton of great food and drink options. What more can you ask for?

Hudson River Park’s Blues BBQ Festival – August 22
If you missed the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, there is also the Hudson River Park’s Blues BBQ Festival (Pier 26, Hudson River Park). It highlights both blues musicians and some of the best BBQ restaurants in New York City. It sounds like a lot of fun!
